Bond Street Theatre

By: Bindu Doddahatti

Bond Street Theatre was founded in 1976 by a group of physically skilled and socially concerned actors and musicians. The ensemble’s method was shaped by their diversity of techniques and their mission motivated by their passion to be useful in this world.

The company creates innovative works that address social and environmental issues, and uses the performing arts as humanitarian outreach and a tool for education and healing. Their work takes them to refugee camps, areas of conflict and post-war environments. They collaborate with local artists to enjoy the benefits of artistic exchange and promote the value of the arts in shaping a peaceful future.

Bond Street Theatre continue to train it’s members in a wide variety of performance arts from around the world, selecting the gestures, rituals, symbols, and games which give life its shape and dynamics, and complementing them with striking theatrical forms. As a result, they have the diversity to present innovative, provocative theatre work as well as popular forms. Each year, the company reaffirms its mission to reach the widest variety of audiences, advance the quality of the theatre arts, and promote theatre’s relevance as an instrument for healing and world peace
