Devashish Chakravarty

NEWS OF THE MONTH

Devashish Chakravarty, India's only two times CAT 100 percentile scorer( CAT 2004 & CAT 2006), is a retired Army Major with 13 years experience with the Indian Army, including 4 major Operations. He also received a Gold Medal for being the Best All-rounder of the 2007 batch at IIM Ahmedabad.

At the age of 33 he topped one of the toughest tests in the country and two years later at 35 he declined a salary offer of Rs 1 crore, the highest so far to an IIM student, to plunge into an unknown arena of entrepreneurship. Devashish Chakravarty recalls how his passion to do something on his own before he gets too old took him to take such an eye-popping step.

Chakravarty along with his batch mate Vineeta started their garment businesswomen’s inner-wear production and retailing — along with two other IIM-A students, Bhushan Dabir and Vishal Prabhukhanolkar.
